We are encouraging our clients to, to engage self inquiry as part of their process in a supported way. Is there something significant that you would want Numinus clients to understand about themselves?

Dr. Gabor Maté

The essence of the approach should I take is that everything that you are concerned about yourself, over everything that you don’t like about yourself, every so-called dysfunction that you have, whether it’s your depression or your anxiety or your addiction, they’re there for valid reason. They’re not arising out of some mistake that you’re making. They didn’t, they’re not your fault. They’re actually earned the right to be there because at some point, they actually helped you and if you get, so if you can approach yourself with curiosity of how did these things come on… not, not what’s wrong with me, but how did all these dynamics arise? What purpose did they serve? When did I acquire them? Um, what role do they play on in my life? How do I get into relationship with them that they no longer lead me down the wrong pathways?

That’s what the healing is. So the essence of it is always this curiosity and what I call compassionate curiosity. So not like, why am I this way, but, Hmm. Why am I this way? Like what actually happened, you know, or, and what role did this particular way of being, play my life and, and always, always, always, always, you’re gonna find that there was some really valid, survival reason why you developed any particular dynamic, that you’re not trying to get rid of. So certainly get rid of something instead of trying to get rid of it, befriend it, get to know it.
