What is it?

Trauma refers to a physical, mental, social, or behavioural response after exposure to an experience causing physical harm, emotional harm or life-threatening harm. Trauma can cause lasting suffering and stress, impacting your ability to cope and mental well-being.

Symptoms of Trauma

  • Being easily startled or “jumpy”
  • Overwhelm 
  • Difficulty managing emotions

Trauma can also contribute to the development of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance use disorders
