Occupational Therapy

We work with patients who suffer from a wide range of neurologic conditions to help improve their quality of life.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy is one aspect of the more comprehensive overall approach to managing chronic conditions and injuries.

Occupational Therapists are registered healthcare providers who work with individuals to improve performance of meaningful activities in the areas of productivity, leisure, and self-care.

Who is this for?

Our occupational therapists work with clients experiencing various neurologic conditions, including headaches, concussions, persistent symptoms after concussion, covid long haul symptoms, and functional neurological disorder. Occupational Therapy can help with:

  • Difficulty functioning at work or in school
  • Difficulty managing daily activities, including cooking, cleaning, driving, managing finances, or daily self-care tasks.
  • Issues tolerating computer/phone/TV screen
  • Difficulty reading
  • Difficulty tolerating exercise or returning to sports
  • Issues with memory, finding their words, focus, multitasking, or other “thinking” issues
  • Headaches or head pressure
  • Fatigue
  • Sleep issues
  • Brain fog
  • Stress/overwhelm
  • Improving or optimizing workstation setup

How Does It Work?

Occupational therapists assist an individual’s rehabilitation by maximizing their independence and participation in the various functions of their lives. Occupational therapy uses activities to help clients retain and regain function.

Occupational Therapy can help with:

  • Individualized return to work, school, and/or sports programs
  • Improve function at work or in the classroom
  • Increase energy levels
  • Improve quality of sleep
  • Relaxation and stress reduction
  • Cognitive strategies
  • Ergonomics
  • Concussion education

Questions

Who can be seen by our Occupational Therapists?

There are no age restrictions on who can see an occupational therapist.

We highly encourage you to see an occupational therapist if you have been diagnosed with concussion or persistent post-concussive symptoms.

Sessions start at $135. Please contact us at 1-833-NUMINUS (686-4687) or book a call for more information.

No, a doctor’s referral is not required to book this appointment. If you would like, you’re welcome to consult with your doctor and have them refer you, but it’s not a requirement.

Is this appointment covered by provincial health insurance?

Unfortunately, occupational therapy appointments are not covered by provincial health insurance. Patients pay at the time of their scheduled appointment and may then be reimbursed by any private insurance plans under which they have occupational therapy coverage.

What if I was involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) that led to my injury/concussion?

Please let the clinic know if you were in a MVA that led to your injury when booking your appointment. Please also let your therapist know at the start of your appointment, in case an OCF-18 form needs to be completed.

Schedule an informational call with a health navigator to get started.
