Amy VanderHerp, PA-C, is a Certified Physician Assistant with over a decade of clinical experience, bringing a warm, nonjudgmental approach to psychiatric care at Stella Mental Health's Springville, Utah location.
Becoming a medical provider has been a lifelong dream for Amy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science — with minors in Biology and Chemistry — from Utah State University in 2004, before completing her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona in 2010. Her diverse background in pediatrics, family medicine, and pain management gives her a uniquely comprehensive perspective when caring for patients, allowing her to consider the whole person — not just the presenting concern.
Amy is passionate about building long-term relationships with her patients and believes the best care is built on communication, understanding, and compassion. She specializes in medication management for ADHD, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, and works alongside the broader Stella team to connect patients with additional services — including ketamine-assisted therapy, TMS, and therapy referrals — when the situation calls for it. She sees mental and physical health as deeply intertwined, and her goal is to help patients thrive in both.
Outside of the clinic, Amy is happiest outdoors. You'll likely find her horseback riding, camping, or 4-wheeling with her family — and enthusiastically chasing after the hobbies of her three kids.

Her clinical specialties include depression, anxiety, ADHD, sleep concerns, and perimenopause. She is particularly interested in the overlap of psychiatric and neurologic conditions, such as neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, movement disorders, and chronic pain. Meadow’s AQH certification demonstrates her dedication to providing comprehensive, quality care for those living with headache disorders.
Her treatment approach integrates lifestyle medicine, psychoeducation, therapy referrals, medication management, and neuromodulation. Whether practicing in person or virtually, Meadow is known for her calm, grounded presence and ability to meaningfully connect with individuals from all walks of life. She values shared decision-making, preventive techniques, and empowering patients to actively engage in their mental health care.
Outside of work, Meadow finds joy in the outdoors by biking, trail running, and skiing as well as at home cooking meals with family and friends. Her daily yoga practice and interest in Ayurveda reflects her commitment to lifelong learning and balanced living.
Kathryn Dowden, who prefers to be called Kate, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who brings 17 years of bedside nursing experience to her work in holistic mental health care. She provides evidence-based psychiatric treatment for adults ages 18–55, with a clinical focus on trauma, anxiety, depression, and psychedelic integration.
Kate has participated in federally approved psychedelic research and offers ketamine-assisted therapy in settings designed for safety, preparation, and integration. She is also deeply committed to harm reduction, supporting individuals who have experienced challenging or adverse psychedelic experiences with compassion and clinical expertise.
Additionally, as a Certified Integrative Mental Health Practitioner (CIMHP), Kate blends conventional psychiatric care with integrative modalities including medication management, nutritional psychiatry, targeted herbal medicine, and lifestyle counseling. Her somatic, person-centered approach aims to align mind, body, and environment by helping each person create sustainable, meaningful change. Kate welcomes patients who value a collaborative, whole-person approach and are curious about combining traditional and integrative paths to mental wellness.
Outside the clinic, Kate finds balance in nature through hiking with her small dog, tending her medicinal herb garden, and feeding backyard birds. She’s also passionate about strength training, cooking healthy (and delicious) meals, and singing wherever the acoustics feel right.
Life can be complex and unpredictable, and I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive place to make sense of it. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where patients can feel genuinely heard and understood. My goal is to walk alongside my patients to explore life’s challenges and uncover new possibilities for healing and growth together.
I believe it’s never too late to create the life you want. Change is not only possible, but is a vital part of being human. Growth often happens in moments that feel uncomfortable or uncertain, and therapy offers a unique space to explore those moments with curiosity and courage.
I’m certified in EMDR and trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. My approach is holistic and somatic, focused on integrating mind, body, and environment. I’m also keen on interventional, biological treatments in mental health and how these approaches complement traditional therapy.
Before joining Stella Mental Health, I worked in a behavioral health center supporting individuals and families through a wide range of emotional and relational challenges. My professional background also includes experience in corrections, education, and women’s wellness.
Outside of work, I find balance through biking, playing guitar, and spending time in the mountains—places that remind me to stay grounded and connected. Connection is at the heart of everything I do, and I aim to bring authenticity, openness, and even a little light-hearted fun into each session so patients can feel safe showing up exactly as they are.
Let’s get curious together about what’s feeling difficult, and discover what healing and growth may look like for you.
