Tammy Dunn, CSW
Tammy received her Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2020. Tammy believes that everyone already holds their own innate wisdom and healing abilities. As a therapist, her role is to help foster and nurture that internal connection through compassion-based practices. In her practice, Tammy strives to create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their emotions and experiences openly. The foundation of her practice is deeply informed by Internal Family Systems as well as mind, body, and spirit-based approaches. Tammy is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy). She also utilizes Polyvagal Theory to help clients befriend their nervous system. Tammy’s experience in mental health includes extensive work in the substance abuse field. She also worked for two years as a member of an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team where she supported individuals with severe persistent mental illness, many of which also carried a dual diagnosis of trauma and substance abuse. Tammy is certified Peer Support Specialist and Crisis Counselor for the state of Utah. Her professional experience in both the Western medical field and Eastern-based holistic approaches (Reiki, yoga), allows her to have an eclectic approach to treatments. Tammy specializes in treating PTSD and CPTSD. She works with survivors of sexual abuse, NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) or BPD (borderline personality disorder) abuse, as well as individuals navigating religious/spiritual conflict and discovery. She also has specialized training in working with first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, and military.
