Botox for Headaches

Botox

Chronic headaches and migraines can be treated with wrinkle-reducing treatments that use injectables containing botulinum toxin, more commonly referred to as Botox. Botox works by blocking certain chemicals made by the body that are involved in sending pain signals to the brain during a headache or migraine attack. In chronic migraines, sensory nerves become inflamed and hypersensitive. The inflammation is caused by different molecules that may be released by the sensory nerves. Botox blocks this, and that has a calming and diminishing effect on the pain.

What To Expect

A specialist uses a small needle to inject Botox into the muscles under the skin in various areas around the face, head, and neck. This treatment is individualized and may target the origin points of headache pain.

The treatment itself takes less than 30 minutes and clients can return home as soon as treatment is done.
It may take several months and multiple treatments to experience relief, but it can effectively reduce headache frequency and associated symptoms in clients with chronic migraines.

We provide this specialized service at Numinus in addition to comprehensive headache management.

Ask your health care provider to complete a referral form to our clinic. We will assess and diagnose your headaches and discuss all potential treatment options with you.
