MDMA for PTSD
Numinus recently partnered with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) for a compassionate access trial for MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD.
Results of the trial showed that 67% of participants who received MDMA-assisted therapy no longer qualified for a PTSD diagnosis after three treatment sessions as opposed to only 32% who received placebo with therapy. In addition, 88% of those receiving MDMA-assisted therapy experienced a clinically meaningful reduction in symptoms.
What Does MDMA Feel Like?
MDMA has profound impacts on state of consciousness, creating empathy and openness that many people find to be a positive experience. MDMA can alter one’s perceptions and reduce feelings of depression, anxiety, and fear. Research suggests that by reducing fear and defensiveness, both of which are feelings often present in PTSD, MDMA can create a psychological state that is uniquely positioned to support long-term psychological healing from trauma.
