Michael Ah You, DNP PMHNP-BC
Dr. Ah You is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He completed a Doctorate in Nursing Practice Degree from the University of Utah. Dr. Ah You has a deep passion for helping people who struggle with mental illness. He has advocated for improving mental healthcare throughout his career. Dr. Ah You has experience working with individuals who struggle with depression, insomnia, anxiety, bipolar disorder, mood dysregulation, and ADHD. He is trained in both medication management and various therapeutic modalities. He supports the philosophy that mental health treatment benefits from the use of medication combined with the use of therapy. Dr. Ah You utilizes the treatment approach that every client be involved in creating a treatment plan focused on meeting their individual needs. Dr. Ah You has worked in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. He began working in the healthcare field in 2004. Dr. Ah You has spent time working with teenagers as a youth coach in residential treatment centers. He later worked as a psychiatric technician at the Utah State Hospital. After completing a Bachelor’s in Nursing from Utah Valley University he worked with geriatric patients for a short time before returning to work with the Utah State Hospital for a period of seven years as a registered nurse, and later as an emergency and risk manager. Dr. Ah You later worked for Intermountain Healthcare both on a medical surgical floor and an inpatient psychiatric floor for a period of four years. He has also spent time working with students as a nursing clinical instructor and provided humanitarian care in Samoa assisting with programs focused on screening children for complications related to rheumatic heart disease. Dr. Ah You currently works in a clinical outpatient setting with adults and adolescents. He is passionate about mental healthcare, continually researching the latest evidence-based treatments as part of his dedication to helping people take steps towards living their highest quality of life.
