Mike Miles, DMSc, PA-C
Mike graduated from the University of Utah physician assistant program and immediately pursued his doctorate degree from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. He completed the psychiatry track of the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree where he received additional education about the physiology of mental health conditions, psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, and therapy modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy. He also has a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in psychiatry. He has always had a passion for supporting those struggling with their mental health. Before becoming a physician assistant, he obtained his undergraduate degree in social work to better understand people, their life perspectives, and how he and others relate to the world. He also worked as an inpatient psychiatric technician at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute with many patients with various mental health conditions. Mike values listening to the experiences and journey of each of his clients. He creates effective, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with his clients, encouraging their input and opinions regarding treatment. He views mental health through a biopsychosocial model and emphasizes the strengths of each client. Mike enjoys working at Cedar Psychiatry because of the access to new treatment options for mental health conditions including ketamine, spravato, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and research trials. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, oil painting, playing the piano, and snow skiing.
