Thomas Mifflin, PA-C

Thomas earned his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Utah, following a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Prior to PA school, he worked as an ophthalmic technician where he discovered his love for helping patients. During his clinical year of PA school, Thomas was able to spend three months working with mental health patients and found his passion. He also completed additional training in the first cohort of students in the SCPTR Psychedelic Therapy Training Program, with a concurrent internship working with patients using Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. Thomas also contributed to the writing of a research protocol for a study involving Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in the treatment of anorexia. He is excited about the current results of psychedelic assisted psychotherapy with ketamine and is actively following other psychedelic assisted therapy research as it unfolds. Ketamine is usually administered in a medical model without therapy during the ketamine experience, usually starting with 6 sessions over a 3-week time period. In contrast to this model, Thomas has a passion for one-on-one guided ketamine therapy sessions with a more individualized approach. In addition to being a very potent and rapid antidepressant and anti-anxiety agent, ketamine also allows patients to tap into their subconscious. Every experience we've ever had, along with the beliefs our nervous system developed from those experiences, are stored in our subconscious where they are hidden from our self-awareness. When ketamine is used in this guided therapy approach, it allows patients to see the root causes and discover the limiting beliefs and perspectives driving their mental health challenges. Additionally, Thomas provides the tools for patients to rewire those limiting beliefs with new empowering beliefs, at the level of the subconscious so that these results will last long after the ketamine has worn off. While not at work, Thomas enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, backcountry skiing, hiking, camping, boating, and doing just about anything in nature. Thomas has a passion for learning and is always listening to a new audio book on topics such as psychology, neuroscience, quantum physics, research in meditation, emotional intelligence, stress, psychedelic therapy, consciousness, brain rewiring, near death experiences, and spontaneous mystical experiences.
